Play Alien Storm (Europe) Online
Pick a weird hero, torch aliens with a flamethrower or zap 'em with psychic powers, then suddenly you're in first-person blasting slimy mutants. Classic Sega chaos with surprisingly gross-cool sprite work.
Alien Storm hit the Sega Master System in 1991, a Sega-published port of their arcade shooter. It arrived late in the console's life, offering a sci-fi action fix for players hungry for something loud and fast. The game didn't redefine the platform, but it stood out with its blend of run-and-gun and first-person sequences.
You control one of three characters: a soldier with a flamethrower, a psychic with energy blasts, or a robot with rapid-fire guns. Your goal is simple: clear each screen of aliens before moving to the next. The action shifts between side-scrolling stages where you blast waves of creatures, and first-person corridor segments where you aim at mutants lunging from vents and doorways. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes quickly, especially during the close-quarters shooting parts. It feels frantic and messy in a way that makes every completed stage a small victory.
