Game Overview

Amazon: Guardians of Eden came out in 1992 for MS-DOS, developed by Access Software. It was part of that wave of early 90s adventure games that tried to blend action, exploration, and puzzle solving, often with mixed results. The game doesn't get talked about much these days, but it had a certain ambitious charm that stood out even when its execution was uneven.

You play as an explorer searching for a mythical city in the Amazon, controlling your character across interconnected screens filled with hazards, creatures, and items to collect. The main goal involves finding pieces of a sacred artifact while navigating traps, solving inventory-based puzzles, and engaging in simple combat with a machete or bow. Progression is screen by screen, with a lot of trial and error; the pacing is slow, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving due to obscure clues and some awkward controls. Despite its frustrations, there's a genuine sense of isolation and discovery as you push deeper into the wilderness.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
