Bandits! came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, published by Sir-Tech. It was part of that wave of early 90s PC games that really tried to push what you could do with strategy and action on a home computer. You don't hear about it as much as some other titles from the time, but it had a specific, gritty charm.
You control a lone outlaw in a top-down western town, moving screen by screen to hunt down rival gangs. Your main goal is to clear each area of enemies, using either a six-shooter or a rifle you can pick up. The combat is tense; you have to carefully aim each shot, and running out of ammo means a frantic scramble for more. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, because rushing in guarantees a quick death. It feels like a careful, dangerous game of chess where every move could be your last.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
