Konami's NES take on Batman Returns is mostly a side-scrolling brawler where you punch, kick, and slash your way through the Penguin's circus thugs. The cape spin attack looks cool but drains your health fast—I learned that the hard way. You’ve got a few batarangs to toss, but the grappling hook’s the real star—yank enemies out of the air, zip up to rooftops, or even swing through windows. Keep an eye out for hidden health pickups behind random street signs and trash cans.

Between beating up clowns, there are two vehicle sections: a chaotic Batmobile chase where you’re blasting bikes with machine guns (way more fun than it should be), and a weirdly peaceful Batskiboat level where you just collect coins. Boss fights cap off each of the six stages, and some of them are brutal—that dual sword juggler still gives me nightmares.
