Bionicle Heroes (J)(Caravan) came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the toy line's appeal on a handheld, and it stood out for its straightforward, action-heavy approach. The DS had plenty of platformers and RPGs at the time, but this one leaned into pure run-and-gun chaos.
You control one of the Toa heroes, switching between them to use their unique weapons like heat vision or ice blasts. The goal is to fight through waves of robotic enemies across different environments, solving light puzzles like moving blocks to progress. The action is fast and the difficulty is fairly low, making it easy to pick up and play in short bursts. It feels like a breezy arcade shooter with just enough variety to keep your thumbs busy.
