Game Overview

Bionicle for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2003, developed by Hyperion and published by Electronic Arts. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the feel of the toy line and its story, back when handhelds were full of these kinds of action platformers. You play as the Toa, the heroic biomechanical beings from the Bionicle universe, on a quest to save the island of Mata Nui.

You control one of the six Toa, each with their own elemental power like fire, water, or stone. The main goal is to explore different regions, defeat enemies, and collect Kanohi masks to grow stronger. Signature mechanics include switching between Toa to use their specific abilities for solving puzzles or accessing new areas, and combat that requires you to learn which elements work against certain foes. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some sections can be tricky with their enemy placement. It feels like a solid, condensed adventure that makes good use of the Bionicle setting.
