Play Blackthorne on Msdos Online
Duck behind cover, wait for mutants to peek out, then blast them with your shotgun—half the fights feel like a tense standoff. The pixelated mines and swamps are full of hidden gadgets and ways to accidentally trap yourself.

Blackthorne came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It was a time when side-scrolling action games were common, but this one stood out with its dark, cinematic style and a moody atmosphere that felt more serious than many of its contemporaries.
You control Kyle Blackthorne, a prince returning to his alien homeworld to overthrow an evil usurper. The game plays out screen by screen; you explore caverns, castles, and mines, fighting goblin-like mutants and solving simple environmental puzzles. Combat relies heavily on taking cover, timing your shotgun blasts, and occasionally using grenades to clear paths. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush in. Ducking behind cover, waiting for an enemy to peek out, then quickly firing before they do creates a tense, almost tactical feel within the run-and-gun format. It feels like a grim, calculated struggle for survival where every shot and every step matters.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
