Bomberman Max 2 – Max Version is the kind of game you pick up thinking you'll play for five minutes, and suddenly an hour's gone by. It's classic Bomberman—drop bombs, blow up walls, trap enemies—but with that extra GBA energy. The mazes are tight, the explosions feel punchy, and there's always some weird power-up just out of reach that makes you take stupid risks.
What I like about the Max Version is how it leans into the chaos. You get these wild stages that aren't in the Red edition, plus characters with slightly different quirks (one of them moves faster but has weaker bombs, which... yeah, I learned that the hard way). The single-player mode throws in some light puzzle stuff between the usual bomb-dodging, and the versus mode is still stupidly fun with a friend—assuming you don't mind losing a few friendships over well-timed explosions.
It's not reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't need to. This is Bomberman doing what Bomberman does best, just pocket-sized.
