Game Overview
Bomberman Tournament is one of those GBA gems that mixes classic bomb-dropping chaos with a weirdly fun little RPG twist. You start off hunting for Max (who, let’s be honest, probably wandered into the wrong explosion), but pretty soon you’re running around Phantarion battling creatures, solving puzzles, and—of course—blowing stuff up. The overworld feels like a proper adventure, and the battles? They’re basically Bomberman deathmatches crammed into tiny arenas. Took me a minute to get used to the controls, but once it clicks, it’s stupidly satisfying to trap enemies in a chain of explosions.
Also, the Karabon creatures you collect are way more useful than I expected—some of them actually help in fights, while others just look ridiculous. I ended up with this weird floating onion thing that somehow became my MVP. The story’s nothing deep, but the mix of exploration and classic Bomberman action keeps it interesting. If you ever wanted to see what happens when Bomberman stumbles into a Pokémon game, this is it.
