Play Bubsy- Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind Online

You control a sarcastic bobcat sprinting through oversized levels, nailing tricky jumps while he shouts catchphrases—mess up once and it's game over. The stiff controls test your patience, but the absurd charm kinda makes up for it.

Game Overview

Bubsy: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind came out in 1993 for the Super Nintendo, developed and published by Accolade. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers trying to capture some of the energy and attitude of the era, with a focus on a wisecracking animal mascot and bright, sprawling levels.

You play as Bubsy, a bobcat who runs and jumps through side scrolling stages, collecting yarn balls and avoiding enemies like aliens and robots. The main goal is simply to reach the end of each stage without dying, since you have no health bar; a single hit means you lose a life. Signature mechanics include his pounce attack, which lets you bounce on enemies, and his ability to glide short distances by spreading his arms after a jump. The pacing is fast, sometimes too fast, and the level design can feel unforgiving with blind jumps and cheap enemy placements. Playing it feels like a constant, jittery race against your own momentum and the game's occasional unfairness.
