Game Overview

Burnout Legends came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2005, developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts. It was one of those early PSP titles that really showed off what the handheld could do, especially if you were into fast, aggressive racing games. It pulled together the best parts of earlier Burnout games into a portable package, so you could take that high-speed destruction with you wherever you went.

You control a range of vehicles, from compact coupes to supercars, racing through traffic-heavy city courses and narrow mountain roads. The main goal is straightforward: finish first, but doing so usually involves shoving opponents into oncoming traffic or using takedowns to wreck them. Signature mechanics include building up your boost meter by driving dangerously (near misses, drifting, going into oncoming lanes), and the crash mode where you cause massive pileups for points. The pacing is relentless; you’re always inches from disaster, weaving through traffic at absurd speeds. It feels like controlled chaos in the palm of your hand.
