Business Wars is a 1990 Nintendo Entertainment System release from developer and publisher SOFEL. It arrived late in the NES lifecycle, offering a different kind of strategy experience compared to the platformers and action RPGs that dominated the console.
You control a fledgling corporation, moving a token around a digital game board representing a city. The main objective is to bankrupt all rival companies through aggressive financial tactics. Signature mechanics include purchasing properties to collect rent, initiating hostile takeovers of opponent-owned businesses, and using special action cards that can sabotage competitors or provide economic advantages. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from the unpredictable AI opponents who will seize on any weakness. It feels like a tense, calculated game of corporate chess where every decision carries weight.
