Game Overview

Remember when extreme sports weren't all corporate sponsors and energy drinks? California Games on NES totally nails that early '90s vibe—skateboarding down piers, wiping out on waves, and somehow making hacky sack look cool. You pick your event (I always went for BMX first), then try not to faceplant while pulling off tricks. The surfing's weirdly technical—judges actually score your moves, which feels oddly serious compared to just chucking a frisbee around.

Fun fact: if you're playing the Atari versions, you're missing out on frisbee and roller skating. Genesis players only get half the frisbee experience. The NES version's where it's at.
