Play California Games (USA, Europe) on sega Online

You mash buttons to surf, BMX, and hacky sack with that janky old-school charm—failing hard until suddenly nailing a trick feels weirdly great. The synth tunes and pixel palm trees totally sell that '80s Cali vibe.

Game Overview

California Games is one of those weird, funky sports compilations that just screams '80s California. You get six events—half sport, half just messing around—like surfing, hacky sack (yes, really), and BMX. The controls are janky in that old-school way where you kinda mash buttons until you figure out the timing, but once it clicks, pulling off a sweet aerial on the halfpipe feels oddly satisfying.

Epyx nailed the vibe with cheesy synth tunes and pixelated palm trees everywhere. Some events hold up better than others (footbag is still weirdly addictive), but the whole thing has this laid-back charm. It’s the kind of game where you’ll fail spectacularly at roller skating at first, then suddenly nail a perfect run out of nowhere.

Definitely more fun with a friend—nothing beats trash-talking during a head-to-head surfing showdown.
