California Games is that classic Amiga sports mix where you’re basically just vibing through a bunch of totally '80s events—skateboarding, surfing, BMX, even footbag (which is way harder than it looks). The surfing part’s got judges scoring your moves, so you’ve gotta nail those turns and jumps if you want the high score.

Some versions let you pick sponsors, which honestly doesn’t change much but feels cool. The Atari and Genesis cuts drop a few events—no frisbee on those, and the Lynx version skips roller skating too. Still, the Amiga one’s got everything, and the pixelated beach aesthetic is weirdly charming.

It’s one of those games where you’ll wipe out a dozen times before figuring out the timing, but nailing a perfect run feels surprisingly satisfying.
