Game Overview

Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye is one of those old-school DOS gems that feels like a mix between a board game and an epic myth. You pick a hero—I went with the spear-wielding warrior first, though the druid’s magic turned out to be way more fun—and then it’s all about convincing stubborn clans to join your cause. Some want gold, others just want you to crush their rivals, and a few won’t listen unless you’ve got enough bardic charm.

The battles are turn-based but surprisingly tense, especially when you’re outnumbered and scrambling to use terrain to your advantage. And Balor? Yeah, he’s as terrifying as the legends say—giant eye and all. The pixel art holds up, too, with these moody greens and blues that make Ireland feel like a place of mist and old magic. If you’ve got a soft spot for ’90s strategy games with personality, this one’s worth dusting off.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
