Game Overview

Chain Reaction was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that bundled various titles from the early PC gaming era. I don't recall the specific developer or publisher for this particular release, but it fit right in with the kind of simple, addictive puzzle games that thrived on that platform. It was the sort of thing you'd load up after a long day, a straightforward concept executed with clean, functional graphics.

You control the placement of colored orbs on a grid, dropping them one by one into cells. The main objective is to trigger chain reactions that eliminate your opponent's orbs before they can do the same to you. Each orb you place increases the cell's count; when a cell reaches its capacity, it explodes, spreading its color to all adjacent cells. This can set off a massive, cascading chain if planned correctly. The pacing is methodical at first, but it quickly escalates into tense, unpredictable battles where a single miscalculation can turn the entire board against you. It feels like walking a tightrope between careful strategy and delightful chaos.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
