Contra [T-Port][a1] is that classic NES run-and-gun where you're immediately thrown into the jungle, guns blazing. The first level feels chaotic—enemies pour in from all sides, and if you don't grab the spread shot early, you're in for a rough time.

The stages drag on longer than the arcade version, which is either a blessing or a curse depending on how much you like memorizing enemy patterns. The jungle and base levels are solid, but the later stages—especially the alien hive—get weirdly stretched out.

That Konami Code is basically mandatory unless you're a masochist. Without it, the difficulty spikes hard after the first few levels. Still, there's something satisfying about the way your little soldier moves—tight controls, even if the hitboxes feel a bit unfair sometimes.

Contra [T-Port][a1] holds up as a tough but rewarding relic from the NES era.
