Crystal Castles came out for the Atari 2600 in 1984, published by Atari, Inc. It was one of those later releases that tried to push the hardware a bit further, with a pseudo-3D look that stood out among the simpler maze and platform games of the era.

You control Bentley Bear, moving through a series of isometric castles to collect gems while avoiding enemies like bouncing balls and floating tree creatures. The main goal is to gather all the gems on each screen to advance, but you can also grab a magic hat that temporarily lets you plow through foes. The perspective makes judging jumps tricky, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as new enemies appear. It feels tense and unpredictable, especially when you're cornered with limited escape routes.
