You start with a rickety car factory in 1900, sweating over every decision—one wrong engine choice or price cut and you're bankrupt by spring. Watch the newspaper like a hawk, because bad news hits hard and your CEO might just take the quick way out.

Detroit is a business simulation game from 1994, developed by Impressions Games and released as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series. It puts you in charge of an automobile company starting in the year 1900, tasking you with building an industrial empire from the ground up. The game fits right in with the detailed, menu-driven management sims of its era, offering a complex and unflinching look at the early automotive industry without any hand-holding.
You control every aspect of your fledgling car company, from designing vehicle chassis and engines to setting prices, managing factory production, and negotiating with dealerships. The main objective is to outperform rival manufacturers, earn profits, and survive economic shifts and technological advancements across decades. Key mechanics include researching new parts to improve your cars, carefully balancing production costs against market demand, and reacting to random events reported in the in-game newspaper. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is steep; a single miscalculation in pricing or a poorly timed expansion can lead to financial ruin. It feels like a constant, tense battle against the clock and your competitors, where every small victory is earned through careful strategy.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
