Game Overview

Double Dribble came out in 1987 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Konami. It was one of those early basketball games you'd load up from a floppy disk, a time when sports simulations were just starting to find their footing on home computers. The graphics were simple, the sound was basic, but it had a charm that made it stand out in an era dominated by text adventures and side scrollers.

You control a team of five players, moving them up and down the court with the keyboard, passing and shooting in an attempt to outscore the opponent. The main objective is straightforward: win the game by scoring more baskets. Signature mechanics include the ability to perform special dunks with a well timed button press; these triggered brief cutscenes that felt rewarding despite their choppy animation. The game also featured a three point shot, which added a strategic layer to offensive play. Matches are fast paced and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially when the computer decides to mount a comeback. It feels like a rough around the edges arcade experience that somehow captures the excitement of last second plays and heated couch competitions.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
