In Dr. Mario, you're spinning colored pills to crush viruses before the screen chokes, while Puzzle League has you frantically swapping tiles as the stack creeps up—both will wreck your thumbs in the best way.
This GBA cartridge is a two-for-one deal: Dr. Mario and Puzzle League, both solid puzzle games with totally different vibes. Dr. Mario’s the one where you’re flipping those little half-and-half pills to match colors with floating viruses—simple at first, but it gets chaotic fast when the board fills up. There’s a versus mode if you’ve got a friend with a GBA nearby, which usually ends in someone dramatically flipping their system shut.
Puzzle League’s the real hidden gem, though. It’s basically Tetris Attack (or Pokémon Puzzle League if you played that) but with these weirdly charming anime-ish characters cheering you on. You’re scrambling to swap tiles before the stack crushes you, and the speed ramps up until your thumbs ache. The puzzle mode’s my favorite—some of those later stages feel impossible until you spot the one sneaky move that clears the whole board.
No Mario or Pikachu here, but honestly, the gameplay’s strong enough without them.
