You start off with Goku and Piccolo training Gohan (poor kid—those Saibamen don’t hold back), and before long, you're diving into turn-based fights where timing your button presses right boosts your attacks. The sprites are surprisingly crisp for a DS game, and those signature Kamehameha waves actually feel powerful when you pull them off.

What I didn’t expect was how much it sticks to the Saiyan Saga story—Raditz shows up, things go south fast, and suddenly you're scrambling to get stronger before Nappa and Vegeta arrive. The skill system’s straightforward but satisfying, letting you customize moves for each character. Just don’t skip the training sessions—you’ll need every bit of power when those Saiyan pods crash-land.

It’s not perfect (some fights drag if you’re underleveled), but for a DBZ RPG, it nails the intensity of the show better than most. The music even kicks in with those classic heroic riffs at just the right moments.
