Play Dragon Ball Z : Gokuu Gekitouden Online
Pick Goku or Vegeta, throw punches that turn into Kamehamehas, and watch those tiny sprites go nuts with screen-filling supers when your energy builds up.
Dragon Ball Z: Gokuu Gekitouden came out for the Game Boy in 1994, published by Bandai. It was one of the earlier attempts to bring the series' high-energy fights to a handheld, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate big action onto that small, green-tinted screen. You got a portable Dragon Ball Z game that felt ambitious for its hardware, even with the limitations.
You control Goku or Vegeta, moving through a series of side-scrolling stages, punching and kicking through waves of enemies like Saibamen and Frieza's soldiers. Your main goal is to clear each area and defeat the boss waiting at the end. Signature mechanics include building up your ki meter by landing hits, which lets you unleash special moves like the Kamehameha; the screen can get pretty chaotic when a super attack fills it up. The game moves at a brisk pace, though some enemy patterns can feel cheap, leading to a few frustrating moments. It feels like a condensed, slightly janky version of the show's fights, where pulling off a big beam attack is always satisfying.
