Play Dragon Ball Z - Super Saiya Densetsu (Japan) (Rev 1) [En by Klepto v0.96] (~Dragon Ball Z - Legend of the Saiyans) (Incomplete) Online

You play DBZ poker—slap down attack cards, dodge at the right moment, then unleash a Kamehameha when their guard drops. The fan translation’s still a little rough, but nailing a perfect combo feels so good.

Game Overview

Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu came out in 1992 for the Super Nintendo, developed by Bandai. It was one of the earlier Dragon Ball games on the system, arriving before many of the more polished titles that followed. The version I played is a fan translation, which makes the story accessible even if some text remains unfinished.

You control Goku and other Z fighters through a turn based card battle system. Your main goal is to follow the story arcs from the anime, fighting through the Saiyan and Frieza sagas. Combat relies on selecting attack, defense, and special move cards each turn, trying to outmaneuver the opponent's choices. You also explore the world screen by screen, talking with characters and triggering story events. The pacing can feel slow during random encounters, but landing a well timed special attack is deeply satisfying. It captures the strategic tension of the show's battles in a simple but engaging way.
