Dragon Strike came out in 1990 from SSI's Special Projects Group, one of those MS-DOS games that felt ambitious for its time. It was part of a wave of early 90s releases that tried to blend different genres, in this case putting you directly in the role of a dragon rather than a hero. The game didn't shy away from complexity, which was pretty typical for strategy and simulation titles back then.

You control a dragon from a first-person perspective, flying over landscapes to complete missions like destroying enemy castles or fighting other dragons. The main objective is to conquer territory by eliminating targets; you use fire breath, claws, and even magic against knights, ballistae, and rival flying creatures. Movement is handled screen by screen with a strategic map, and combat involves timing your attacks and managing your altitude. The pacing is deliberate, almost tactical, and the difficulty can be steep, especially when navigating or aiming. It feels raw and immersive, like you're actually steering a powerful, unwieldy beast through the chaos.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
