Dragonworld was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles without a clear developer or publisher attribution. It belongs to that era of early PC RPGs where ambition often outpaced polish, fitting right in with other exploratory, menu-driven adventures of the time.
You control a lone hero navigating a top-down world, moving screen by screen through towns, wilderness, and multi-level dungeons. Your main goal is to gather clues from villagers, find keys, and ultimately confront the dragon threatening the land. Combat is turn-based; you select attacks or spells from a list, watching as your party and monsters exchange blows. Exploration is methodical, with hidden switches and trapped chests adding constant risk. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can spike without warning, especially in later dungeons. Playing it feels like carefully mapping each step in a world that doesn't care if you succeed.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
