Play Dungeons and Dragons - Eye of the Beholder (E)(Patience) Online
Explore dungeons, fight monsters, disarm traps, and uncover secrets as you guide a party of adventurers through a grid-based maze in Dungeons and Dragons - Eye of the Beholder.
I picked up Dungeons and Dragons: Eye of the Beholder for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a port of the classic PC dungeon crawler developed by Pronto Games. It was a time when handhelds were starting to get deeper, more complex adventures, and this one fit right in with its serious, methodical approach to fantasy. It didn't try to be flashy; it was a straightforward adaptation meant for players who appreciated a challenge on the go.
You control a party of four adventurers, moving them one square at a time through a first-person, grid-based dungeon. Your main goal is to explore the labyrinthine halls beneath Waterdeep, fighting monsters, disarming traps, and uncovering the source of a spreading evil. Combat happens in real time; you click to swing your weapon or cast a spell directly from your memorized list, managing limited resources carefully. The pacing is slow and deliberate, demanding patience as you map out each level yourself (or risk getting hopelessly lost). It feels tense and absorbing, like every corner could hide your next big find or your party's sudden end.
