Elfland came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Carl Erikson. It was a time when many fantasy adventures were built on simple exploration and item collection, and this game fit right into that familiar, text-heavy style of the early PC era.
You control an elf tasked with gathering the scattered pieces of a magical crown across a large, interconnected world. Movement is screen by screen; you explore forests, castles, and caves, talking to characters who offer clues or trade items. Combat is minimal, often resolved by using the right object or avoiding enemies altogether. The pace is deliberate, with progress depending on careful observation and patience. It feels like slowly untangling a knot, where every small discovery adds a little more clarity to your journey.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
