Excitebike (VS) is one of those NES racers that feels simple at first—just a motocross bike, some ramps, and a timer. But the physics have this weird weight to them, like your bike is always fighting against the track. Land wrong after a jump and you'll overheat, forcing you to slow down or wipe out completely.
The track editor is where it gets interesting. You can slap together some ridiculous courses with steep jumps right before sharp turns, just to watch the AI eat dirt. The VS mode is fun for quick races, though the rubberbanding can be brutal if you're ahead.
It's not deep, but there's something satisfying about nailing a perfect lap in Excitebike (VS), hitting every ramp at just the right angle.
