Game Overview

Fighter's History came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Data East. It was one of many fighting games trying to grab some attention after Street Fighter II blew up, and it definitely had its own strange flavor. The roster was a mix of standard martial artists and some truly odd characters, like a guy in a full suit of armor or a clown.

You pick a fighter and go through a series of one-on-one matches, trying to win the tournament. The main gimmick was the "weak point" system; after landing enough hits on an opponent, a piece of their clothing or armor would fly off, and hitting that exposed spot did extra damage. The controls are a bit stiff, and the pacing is slower than other fighters from that time, making matches feel more deliberate, sometimes clumsy. It's a game that feels both familiar and slightly off in a way that's hard to forget.
