Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon came out on the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. You control Marth and his growing army across grid-based battlefields, moving units one by one to attack, defend, or support. Your main goal is to reclaim Marth's kingdom by winning each story battle, often by seizing a throne or defeating a commander. Key mechanics include the weapon triangle (swords beat axes, axes beat lances, lances beat swords), permanent character death, and the ability to reclass units between missions to adapt your strategy. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush; losing a unit means they're gone for the rest of the game.
