Game Overview

Front Lines came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Impressions Games. It was part of that wave of strategy titles that really dug into logistics and terrain, set against a near-future conflict in Europe. The game didn't rely on flashy graphics; it was more about thoughtful planning and resource management, fitting right into the PC gaming landscape of the time.

You control hover tanks and infantry in power armor, moving them across a strategic map divided into sectors. Your main goal is to capture key cities and supply depots before the enemy does, which means constantly balancing offense with defense. The game emphasizes supply lines; if your units run out of fuel or ammo, they become sitting ducks. Combat is resolved on a separate tactical screen, where positioning and unit type matter a great deal. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you manage limited resources and react to enemy movements. It feels like a careful, demanding chess match where every decision has weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
