Game Overview

Galactic Invasion came out for the Amiga in 1988 from MicroIllusions. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the platform, offering a split-screen or modem multiplayer experience that was still fairly novel at the time. You could play against a friend or take on the computer in a tense, head-to-head space duel.

You pilot a small fighter through a pseudo-3D asteroid field, hunting for five scattered warhead parts while trying to destroy your opponent. The screen splits to show both players' perspectives, so you always know where the other ship is. You need to mine meteors for fuel to keep moving and firing, adding a constant layer of resource pressure. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you balance searching, fighting, and survival. It feels like a careful game of cat and mouse played out in the void of space.
