Gauntlet II came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, published by Atari Games. It was a time when arcade-style action was making the jump to home computers, and this port brought the frantic, quarter-munching feel of the arcade right to your keyboard or joystick.
You control one of four fantasy heroes, a warrior, valkyrie, wizard, or elf, each with distinct strengths, and your goal is to survive maze-like dungeons, clear out endless waves of monsters, and hunt for the exit before your health drains away. Key mechanics include collecting keys to open doors, managing your health by grabbing food, and fending off ghosts that only vanish when you destroy their generators. The pacing is relentless, with enemies spawning constantly and the threat of death ever-present, especially when Death itself appears to chase you down. It feels chaotic and urgent, a true test of reflexes and crowd control.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
