Play Gilligan's Island Online

Play as the Skipper babysitting Gilligan—he’ll fall in every pit and get stuck behind trees while you scramble to rescue him. It’s janky, but weirdly feels like the show.

Game Overview

I remember picking up Gilligan's Island for the NES back in 1990, published by Bandai. It was one of those many licensed games from that era, based on the old TV show, and it didn't exactly set the world on fire. You got what you expected: a simple, sometimes frustrating adventure that tried to capture the spirit of the source material without a lot of polish.

You control the Skipper, and your main job is to keep Gilligan out of trouble while gathering parts to fix the radio. The game is a side-scroller where you explore the island screen by screen, cutting down vines with a machete and avoiding various enemies like snakes and bees. The real challenge is managing Gilligan, who follows you and constantly gets stuck or falls into pits, forcing you to go back for him. It's a slow, deliberate game that can feel more like chore management than exciting exploration. Playing it feels like herding a very clumsy, very lost chicken.
