Gradius II is one of those arcade shooters that feels like a proper test of reflexes and patience. You pilot the Vic Viper through waves of enemies that just don’t let up—some levels feel like threading a needle while everything explodes around you. The power-up system is still brilliant: collect capsules to build your ship’s loadout, choosing between lasers, missiles, or those little helper drones (I always go for the drones first).
The bosses are punishing but fair, and the soundtrack has that classic Konami energy—you’ll recognize it instantly if you’ve played the first Gradius. Just don’t get too attached to your upgrades; one death resets everything, and that’s when the real panic sets in. It’s old-school tough, but in the best way possible.
