Game Overview

Gunforce on SNES is one of those classic run-and-gun shooters where you just feel the bullets flying everywhere. You play as these hardened mercs taking on a terrorist group that’s basically trying to nuke the planet—standard '90s action movie stuff, but it works.

What I like is how each level throws something different at you. One minute you’re clearing out a jungle base with grenades, the next you’re dodging sniper fire in some urban warzone. The controls are tight, but enemies come from all angles, so you’re constantly scrambling for better weapons or cover. And yeah, it’s tough—those ambush sections will wreck you if you’re not paying attention.

It’s not as polished as Contra, but there’s a scrappy charm to it. The music’s got that crunchy SNES synth-rock vibe, and blowing up tanks never gets old. If you like your shooters fast, loud, and a little janky, this one’s worth a few credits.
