Harvest Moon DS is one of those games where you start with a tiny, overgrown farm and somehow end up spending hours just watering turnips. At first, it feels slow—clearing weeds, saving up for your first chicken—but then you blink and suddenly you’re racing to milk cows before the town festival starts.

The villagers actually remember if you’ve been ignoring them (I learned that the hard way when the blacksmith refused to upgrade my tools for a week). And the mining? Way more intense than it should be—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve gotten stuck on level 30 of the cave because I forgot to bring food.

It’s got that classic Harvest Moon charm, though. Even when your dog digs up your crops or your chickens get grumpy, it’s weirdly satisfying to just… farm.
