Heimdall_Disk1 is one of those classic Amiga games that throws you straight into Norse mythology—but with a twist. You play as Heimdall, stripped of godhood and stuck dealing with Loki’s nonsense. The trickster hid Thor’s hammer, Odin’s sword, and Frey’s spear across three massive worlds, and guess who gets to track them down? You, obviously.

First things first: you’ve got to prove yourself in three weirdly specific mini-games. There’s axe throwing, except the target is a barmaid tied up by her pigtails (aim carefully, because drunk Heimdall’s hands are *not* steady). Then there’s pig chasing—which is exactly as chaotic as it sounds—and finally, a brawl on a longboat where everyone’s trying to toss you overboard. Do well, and you’ll recruit a solid crew; mess up, and you’re stuck with the B-team.

After that, it’s all about exploring these sprawling, isometric worlds, solving puzzles, and fighting your way through monsters. The vibe’s a bit like Cadaver, if you remember that one—lots of secrets, traps, and the occasional “wait, how was I supposed to figure *that* out?” moments. It’s clunky in that charming early ‘90s way, but there’s something satisfying about finally stumbling onto one of those missing godly weapons after hours of wandering.

Just don’t expect Loki to make it easy for you.
