So Heimdall is this Norse mythology game where you play as the god-turned-mortal who’s basically screwed—Ragnarok’s coming, Loki’s hidden all the important god weapons, and now you’ve gotta trek through three massive lands to find them. The whole thing’s isometric, kind of like Cadaver if you remember that one.

First, you do these weird little minigames to set your stats. There’s axe throwing where you’re drunk and trying not to hit a tied-up barmaid (yeah, it’s as awkward as it sounds), pig chasing that’s way harder than it should be, and a longboat brawl where everyone’s trying to toss you overboard. Do well, and you get a bigger party—mess up, and you’re stuck with the B-team.

Then it’s off to explore islands packed with puzzles and enemies. Some rooms feel endless, and the combat’s clunky in that classic Amiga way, but there’s something satisfying about slowly piecing together where Loki stashed Thor’s hammer or Odin’s sword. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand—this is pure ‘90s "figure it out yourself" design.
