Game Overview

Hiryuu no Ken III, known as 5 Nin no Ryuu Senshi in Japan, came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. It was developed by Culture Brain, a company that also worked on the Super Chinese series. This was during the NES era when side-scrolling action games were common, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, energetic approach.

You choose from five martial artists, each with unique moves, and fight through stages filled with ninjas, sumo wrestlers, and other enemies. The main goal is to defeat all the bosses and complete the quest. Key mechanics include screen by screen exploration, close combat using punches and kicks, and occasional projectile attacks. The game moves at a brisk pace and can be fairly challenging, especially when dealing with groups of enemies. It feels satisfying to land combos and clear each area with timing and skill.
