Game Overview

Hockey Pista is one of those classic Amiga sports games that somehow makes sliding around on roller skates feel both frantic and weirdly strategic. You control the nearest skater to the ball while also nudging your goalie side to side—which sounds chaotic, but after a few matches, you start getting the hang of it. The ball zips around like it’s on ice, and the controls are simple enough that you can focus on outmaneuvering the other team instead of wrestling with buttons.

There’s a championship mode if you want something more structured than one-off matches, and you can tweak your team’s colors and name (mine was always something ridiculous). The Girardelli-sponsored update speeds things up a bit and splits matches into halves, though it locks the difficulty—so if the AI starts stomping you, there’s no easy way out. Still, it’s a solid little arcade-style hockey game that holds up better than you’d expect.
