Game Overview

Hokuto no Ken 7: Seiken Retsuden Denshousha heno Michi came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Shouei System. It was one of many licensed games from that era, trying to capture the feel of the Fist of the North Star series on a console known for deep, sometimes experimental, role-playing games.

You control Kenshiro, moving screen by screen through a post apocalyptic world, recruiting other martial artists to your cause. The main goal is to build a team strong enough to challenge a series of warlords. Combat uses a turn based system where you select specific Hokuto Shinken techniques; landing combos fills a special gauge that lets you perform super moves, often finishing enemies with dramatic, screen shaking explosions. The pacing is deliberate, with plenty of backtracking and random encounters that can make progress feel slow. It feels like a rough, ambitious project that doesnโ€™t always control smoothly, but pulling off a successful combo and watching an adversary burst apart has a distinct, visceral payoff.
