Game Overview

I remember picking up The Incredible Crash Dummies for the NES back in 1994, a game published by LJN. It was one of those licensed titles that felt very much of its time, capitalizing on the toy line and the general mid-90s vibe. It didn't have the polish of a flagship Nintendo title, but it had a strange, almost experimental charm that made it stand out on a shelf full of platformers and RPGs.

You control a crash test dummy named Slick, guiding him through a series of hazardous, multi-screen testing facilities. The main goal is simply to reach the exit in each level, but the journey is a chaotic ballet of self-destruction. Your primary mechanics involve a strange, bouncy form of movement; you build up momentum to leap across gaps, but you're also constantly smashing into walls, floors, and obstacles, which causes your limbs to detach. You can reattach these lost parts if you collect them, but losing your head means an instant failure. The pacing is frantic, and the physics are intentionally unwieldy, making every jump feel precarious. It feels like you are constantly wrestling with the controls to prevent your own cartoonish dismemberment.
