Game Overview

International Bridge Contractors came out in 1984 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Greystone Software. It was one of those early business simulations that felt more like a spreadsheet with a purpose, a niche title for players who wanted to manage something more tangible than fantasy kingdoms or galactic empires. You ran a construction firm, and the goal was simple on paper: build bridges, make money, and don't go broke.

You control the entire operation, from bidding on contracts and purchasing materials to hiring crews and managing timelines. The main objective is to complete each bridge project under budget and ahead of schedule to maximize profits and secure more prestigious jobs. Key mechanics include carefully allocating your limited budget between labor, steel, and concrete; dealing with random events like bad weather or material shortages that can derail a project; and constantly balancing risk against potential reward when choosing which contracts to pursue. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you watch your cash reserves dwindle with every delay. It feels like a high-stakes puzzle where one wrong calculation can sink your entire company.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
