Game Overview

Iron Blood came out in 1996 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Microforum International. It was one of those mid-90s action platformers that felt right at home among pixelated sprites and chiptune soundtracks. You could tell it was built for an era when games were often about tight controls and learning through repetition.

You pilot a mech, choosing between Roy’s agile model or Sedrin’s heavy armor, and fight through side-scrolling stages filled with enemy robots and environmental hazards. The main goal is to survive each level, defeat the boss, and move forward. Key mechanics include dodging patterned laser fire, platforming across gaps, and studying boss behaviors to find openings. The pacing is intense, with moments of careful navigation suddenly shifting into frantic bullet-dodging sequences. It feels demanding but fair when you finally beat a tough section through pure reflex and memorization.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
