Ishar 2: Messengers of Doom came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Silmarils. It was a time when isometric RPGs were gaining traction, offering a different perspective from the top-down or first-person views common in other dungeon crawlers of the era.
You control a party of adventurers, starting with the warrior Zubaran, and your goal is to stop an evil sorcerer from unleashing doom. The game uses screen by screen exploration, with each area presenting puzzles and enemies that require tactical movement and resource management. Combat involves real-time movement with pause options, letting you position your characters and choose attacks or spells carefully. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, with a high difficulty that punishes careless decisions. Playing it feels like navigating a dense, unpredictable world where every choice has weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
