Game Overview

Dr. Doom’s Revenge is one of those late '80s MS-DOS brawlers that feels like flipping through a comic book—if flipping through a comic book involved mashing buttons to punch Rhino in the face. You swap between Spider-Man and Captain America, which is cool because Spidey’s got his web swings while Cap just throws his shield like a frisbee from hell. The levels are short, chaotic sprints through Doom’s goons, leading up to boss fights that actually make you sweat a little (Electro’s lightning bolts still haunt me).

What I love is how it doesn’t just dump you into mindless combat—there’s a story here, told in these grainy, dramatic comic panels between levels. You’re chasing Doom to Latveria before he nukes New York, and honestly, the stakes feel higher than most beat ‘em ups where the plot is just “punch everyone.” The co-op’s a blast if you’ve got a friend willing to tolerate the janky MS-DOS controls. It’s clunky by today’s standards, but the charm’s in the little details, like how Cap’s shield sometimes gets stuck in walls.

Definitely a time capsule, but if you’re into retro superhero chaos, it’s worth booting up just to see Spider-Man uppercut a robot.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
