Game Overview

Doom Troopers: Mutant Chronicles is one of those Sega Genesis shooters that feels like it’s constantly throwing mutants at you—and honestly, that’s the fun part. You pick between two commandos (Mitch or Max, both equally good at blasting things) and dive straight into a war against the Dark Legion. The first level throws you into a ruined city with these creepy, armored mutants charging at you, and you’ve got a decent arsenal right from the start—shotguns, flamethrowers, even grenades if you’re feeling messy.

The levels get weirder as you go—underground labs, mutant-infested wastelands—and the enemies just keep getting bigger. Some of them take way too many bullets to drop, which is either frustrating or satisfying depending on how much you like holding down the fire button. The two-player co-op is where it really shines, though. Everything’s twice as chaotic when you’ve got a friend spraying bullets next to you, and the screen fills up with mutants fast. Just don’t expect a deep story—this is pure run-and-gun with a 90s comic book vibe.

If you’re into old-school shooters with chunky sprites and non-stop action, this one’s worth a few rounds.
